Lead Vocalist Tom DeLonge Still Wants Blink-182 to be Part of his Life

Tom DeLonge was the co-frontman of the American band Blink -182. He left the band earlier this year and has not spoken to his bandmates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker since the split.

DeLonge told NME that he still wants the band to be a part of his life. He just would like to focus on other projects at this time. Among them is his solo material, working with his band Angels &Airwaves, his novel and a live action film.

The former Blink -182 member went on to say, "I loved that band, I started that band. That's me. I named the band - that sh** came from me. [Being in Blink] cannot be the only thing in my life, or can it be the absolute priority. But can it be a part of my life? Absolutely. I love that band. I could not do anything that I'm doing now without the fans of that band. If I did not have the fans of Blink, I would not exist."

However, when Tom DeLonge was asked if he would like to rejoin his former bandmates in Blink 182 - Mark Hoppus (bassist and co-lead vocalist) and Travis Barker (drummer), Tom DeLonge said "No, no, it's much more complex than that. It has to mop up with everybody's life. I think if all the roads that we're travelling connect at the same intersection, which is usually a location and a date, then we're good."

Tom DeLonge admitted that since he left the band, he has not had any communications with his former bandmates. He compared their situation with The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards who haven't spoken in three years, then suddenly they just hug and said that they missed each other, and Tom DeLonge said, "It's just how it works."

On September 4, Tom DeLonge will release the EP of his band Angels & Airwaves - 'Of Nightmares.' And on October 6, DeLonge will unleash the novel - Poet Anderson... Of Nightmares.
