Kanye West's acceptance speech for his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 MTV VMAs is still the talk of the town.
In fact, his 13-minute long speech was totally ignored, and the only thing that stuck to everyone's minds was his announcement to run for president in 2020.

However, something was in store during that moment - which unfortunately didn't happen. MTV executive producer Van Toffler told Billboard in an interview that Kanye West was supposed to perform a medly in addition to his speech.
Obviously, plans changed somewhere in between. Van Toffler said:
"We originally thought Kanye was going to do a medley. Then we thought he was going to not do music and talk. Then, about two acts into the show, we thought he would do a couple-song medley. This is after the show started. Then, about an act before, we found out that he might not do music and just speak - but we had to be prepared for both, so we had a track cued up. We were in the truck and we heard this 10 minutes before he was to accept the award."
He also added that because of Kanye West's unpredictable nature, they left the decision of performing or not to the 38-year-old rapper:
"We decided to be open to whatever Kanye wanted because he's given us so many moments - unexpected ones. So we weren't sure whether he would break into song or not. We had a track - he would have rapped to his biggest hits."
He even shares that even one of Kanye's people were surprised with the direction West went with:
"We've learned to expect the unexpected. Someone from his camp was with us in the truck and he was surprised too. Nobody knew what he was going to do - or announce that he was going to run for president. We were all surprised. Even Taylor Swift."
Fans must be disappointed to hear that they missed that would-be performance. Regardless though, the moment was still one for the books!
