Young actress Chloe Grace Moretz is one busy girl. The 'Equalizer' star has just finished working on 'Dark Places' with Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, and she will now appear in the film adaptation of Rick Yancey's novel 'The 5th Wave.'
The synopsis for the movie reads as follows:
"In the new film 'The 5th Wave,' four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie [Chloe Grace Moretz] is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope - if she can only trust him."
The trailer explains how The Others invaded Earth with several waves starting with Darkness, where an EMP wave shuts down all electronics and modes of communication. The second Wave, Destruction, causes major tsunamis that kill millions of people while the third Wave, Infection, releases an airborne virus that makes the infected bleed to death. The fourth Wave is Invasion, revealing that The Others are already on Earth and are planning to wipe out all of humanity.
The novel 'The 5th Wave' was released in 2013 and has been compared to 'The Hunger Games' and 'The Road.' One critic has even announced that the book is "an engaging look at humanity" and "a page-turning rocket of popcorn-movie action."
'The 5th Wave' is directed by J Blakeson and produced by actor Tobey Maguire with Timothy Headington, Graham King and Matthew Plouffe. The film also stars Nick Robinso, Alex Roe, Maika Monroe and Zachary Arthur. Ron Livingston plays Cassie's father Oliver and Liev Schreiber portrays Colonel Vosch.
