Kevin Feige's Marvel vision has brought billions of dollars worth of dividends to the studio, even before Disney officially bought Marvel Entertainment in 2009, and he has been putting his vision forward to great success - and now, billions later, he gets even more freedom to manage it as he prefers.
The CEO of Marvel Entertainment, Isaac "Ike" Perlmutter, has been followed by a reputation of being something of a tyrant and a big micromanager when it comes to the way things are handled in the billion-dollar company, but it seems Kevin Feige's Marvel success has bought him new rights: the ability to pass over Perlmutter when it comes to big decisions.
According to an exclusive story by The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Feige's Marvel success has finally gotten him, after what has been said where "years of frustration," in a point where he doesn't have to go through Perlmutter to get things done, instead speaking directly with Disney studio chief Alan Horn.
Screen Rant reports that this new Kevin Feige Marvel position stems from years worth of discomfort in the way things were being handled in Marvel Studios, the company's film division and Feige's reign; Perlmutter is being described as "the money guy" in the organization as opposed to Feige's movie connection, which has been instrumental in the success of the growing MCU.
For example, it was Kevin Feige's Marvel involvement that got Robert Downey Jr. to come back for a few more films including "Captain America: Civil War" after Perlmutter had reportedly refused to pay Downey's increasingly high salary, and Perlmutter has been called "cheap" over his refusal to raise stars' salaries.
According to Comic Book Movie, the move to increase Kevin Feige's Marvel power was "the next logical step" as the company looks to integrate further with Disney - and it seems Perlmutter being out of the picture power-wise was "a long time coming."
