Biddeford police have released the name of the man who drove his minivan through a window of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Saturday morning, the Portland Press Herald reports.
The man is identified as 81-year-old Anthony Canario, of Saco.
It happened around 10:15 Saturday morning on Spruce Street. Investigators say there were about 20 people inside the store at the time of the accident.
Patrons at the Dunkin' Donuts on Spruce Street in Biddeford were drinking coffee Saturday morning when a minivan plowed through the wall and into the dining area, injuring several customers.
According to the Biddeford Fire Department, six people were injured in the crash. The driver and passenger in the van, along with four customers, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“We had four ambulances on scene, and multiple patients were transported,” Biddeford Fire Department Capt. Rick Dussault said. “The patrons inside the building were extremely lucky that they were not entrapped or pinned.”
Dussault said the incident remained under investigation by the Biddeford Police Department. He did not have the names of the people in the minivan at that time or information about why the driver drove through the wall into the cafe.

No staff members were injured and owner, Steve Sparangis, said the vehicle went about 20 feet into the restaurant.
Responders from Biddeford Ambulance, Saco Ambulance and Arundel Ambulance all helped treat and transport the injured people including the husband and wife who were in the minivan at the time of the incident.
Although it made a pretty big hole, the crash did not cause any significant structural damage to the building.
According to Dussault, the structural integrity did not seem to be compromised. He expected building owner Steve Sparangis to reopen after repairs.
