'Les Miserables' Actor Kyle Jean-Baptiste Died At The Age Of 21

Actor from the musical drama movie "Les Miserables", Kyle Jean-Baptiste, who was also one the youngest cast members of the show, has passed away after he accidentally fell off his mother's fire escape at home. He was 21.

Following this heartbreaking news, the Les Miserables team immediately sent their "deepest condolences" to Kyle's mourning family and loved ones. 

"The entire LES MISERABLES family is shocked and devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of Kyle, a remarkable young talent and tremendous person who made magic - and history - in his Broadway debut," they said in a statement.

They went on saying, "We send our deepest condolences to his family and ask that you respect their privacy in this unimaginably difficult time."

Besides being one of the youngest artists in the musical drama film, who portrayed the role of Jean Valjean, Jean-Baptiste was also the first African-American actor to appear on a popular Broadway show, the musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's 1982 novel "Les Miserables".

Shortly before his death, Jean-Baptiste said on Twitter "I felt a huge amount of responsibility to do right by them and to honor this iconic material. I thank everyone who supported me and still does. I will never forget this experience."

The theater actor had also portrayed the character of Enjorlas during the Les Miserables' Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Among his Broadway appearances included 'The Merry Wives of Windsor', 'Murder Ballad The Musical', 'Love Story The Musical', 'Singin' In The Rain' and 'Music Man'.

He had also previously performed with Miranda in the "HAMILTON #HAM4HAM" lottery show. After the show, Jean-Baptiste sent his thank you message to his fans on Twitter, saying "Thank you for all the love! Last night was one of the best nights of my life. Thanks to all who came. C U at the barricade @LesMizBway"

The deceased young actor revealed on his website about how he discovered his passion for acting and singing, and decided to enter the world of musical theatre.

"Getting thrown into the world of music theatre was terrifying and at first I didn't know if I could handle it, but through hard work and perseverance it all came together." He wrote. "Acting and singing have become an extension of who I am, and I strive to use my gift to influence and inspire others."

He went on writing, "I am now shooting for the stars and trying to reach my goal of becoming the best stage and screen actor that I can be."
