Calvin Harris Surpassed Jennifer Lawrence's Earnings, DJ Being Paid $66 Million Annually

As reflected in the explosion of Electronic Dance Music (EDM), Scotland singer-songwriter, Calvin Harris, has been named as the world's highest paid DJ by Forbes on Monday, August 24. His estimated earnings have reached $66 million annually, surpassing the annual pay of 'Mockingjay' actress, Jennifer Lawrence, reports say.

The 31-year old record producer, who has worked with several big-named artists including Ne-Yo and Rihanna, topped the U.S dance charts by the release of his 2014 album "Motion".

Harris also appears as the face of Giorgio Armani's underwear, watch line, eyewear. He isalso currently in a relationship with 'Bad Blood' hit maker, Taylor Swift.

Reports say that Harris' estimated earnings of $66 million coming from his music works and big endorsements made him earn more than the Oscar-award winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence, who was held as the world's highest paid actresses last week with her estimated earnings of $52 million.

Harris told Forbes in a statement, "The rise of dance music has been astronomical.. I happened to be in the right place at the right time."

Following Harris' place in the row, French DJ David Guetta places second with his estimated earning of $37 million. Guetta plays in Las Vegas and Ibiza, and he was also reportedly one of the headliners of one of this year's biggest event, Coachella Fesival held in Southern California.

DJ Tiesto ranked third with an estimated earnings of $36 million, while Skrillex and Steve Aoki finished the Top 5, with their estimated earnings of $24 million respectively.

The list compiled by Forbes was gathered from the artist's estimated earnings from their music works, respective endorsements and other grounds for the last 12 months which ended last June 1, 2015.

EDM is one of the fastest-growing field in the music industry worldwide and was recognized during the 2012 Grammy Awards' annual music ceremony.
