‘Winds Of Winter’ Release Date: George R. R. Martin Says Whether HBO ‘Game Of Thrones’ Will Finish First, Jon Snow Lives?

Now that cult television series "Game of Thrones" has officially caught up with the books it's based on, George R. R. Martin's still unfinished "A Song of Ice and Fire," fans crave to know more about what's next in the power struggle of Westeros, awaiting a "Winds of Winter" release date.

It's been four years since the last time Martin published a book, 2011's "A Dance with Dragons," and fans of the book saga would love the HBO show not to spoil them of what's next (it's been revealed that while there will be differences between books and show, both stories will somehow meet in the end), but there's still no known "Winds of Winter" release date.

While fans still crave a "Winds of Winter" release date, according to Vine Report, Martin has been teasing left and right about what's coming for the next installment, which is reportedly already at publishing companies in the middle of its editing process.

Yibada reports that while there's still no "Winds of Winter" release date yet, Martin has already told fans the title of the next installment of the books, "A Dream of Spring," as by this point the Stark's threat that "Winter is coming" has already come to life.

Martin spoke recently to Geek Wire in the meantime ahead of the "Winds of Winter" release date, and it seems he's come to terms with the idea that the popular HBO show based on his books could actually finish before he's done writing the novels.

"There was a period where I was worried about that," Martin told the Sasquan science-fiction convention in Spokane, speaking about whether it'd be the books or the show finishing first. "Then I said, to hell with that. Worrying about it isn't going to change it one way or another. I still sit down at the typewriter, and I have to write the next scene and the next sentence ... I'm just going to tell my story, and they're telling their story and adapting my books, and we shall see."

For now, there's still no word on that "Winds of Winter" release date - but, hopefully, "A Song of Ice and Fire" is coming!
