Want To Share Dog Beer With Your Canine? This Brewery’s Got It [PHOTOS]

Sharing a beer with "man's best friend" is now possible. Flat 12 Bierwerks, a brewer in Indiana, has created the first "dog brew" in the state, according to the Indy Star.

The dog beer by Flat 12 is not so much a beer as it is called. It is actually a non-alcoholic, dog-friendly beer created for owners and their doggie pals so both could enjoy a brew while watching a game at the bar.

Flat 12 officially debuted its dog beer Friday, August 21, during its pet adoption and supply drive for an animal shelter named Heaven After Hell Rescue Shelter.

The dog beer is composed of the following ingredients:

1. Meat bone trimmings

2. Potatoes

3. Brewer's yeast

4. Carrots

The brewery brews the dog beer just like a real brew, but using these ingredients. They simply let the stock simmer for three hours, after which they throw the lot in a keg.

The concept of the dog beer was conceived because all off Flat 12's employees had dogs, thus they kept wondering how it would be like to share a cold one with their beloved pets.

"I think every employee here owns a dog," said Valerie Green, Flat 12's marketing director. "We are all very dog-friendly."

As a result, head brewer Sean Manahan and Green created the dog brew.

"We wanted to make something really good for them, but also a treat. Plus it is safe, no alcohol and no carbonation," said Green.

The Indy Star reported that the Indiana brewery first had to test if their own dogs and "dog regulars" loved the brew before selling it to the public. The humans themselves reportedly tasted the dog beer, which they said tasted like soup broth.

According to Food Beast, a six pack especially for doggies has already been made in 2012 by Bowser Beer, but Flat 12's is a bit different as their dog beer will be coming to dogs through tap. They will reportedly be available from Smoking Goose.

One dog beer bowl costs $1. All proceeds go to local animal shelters.
