It was rumored Candis Cayne and Caitlyn Jenner had struck up a relationship after appearing on I Am Cait together. The transgender actress opened up about the status of their relationship for the first time.
She may have been by Caitlyn's side as she transitions in the public eye, but Candis laughed off rumors of romance as she opened up about their friendship on Wednesday.
"We're just really, really good friends," the 43-year-old actress and performance artist told Billy Bush and Liz Hernandez on Access Hollywood.
It’s no secret that Candis and Caitlyn have been spending a lot of time together since the former Olympian came out as transgender back in May this year. In the latest episode of 'I Am Cait,' Candis even asked Caitlyn over for a sleepover date, suggesting a possible love connection.
"Caitlyn and I are really good friends. I really love her a lot, and it's been amazing being by her side through this whole process," Candis explained when asked about the relationship between her and Caitlyn.
Candis did not want anyone to think that this love was of the romantic sort. Although Caitlyn herself is still undecided on whether she will date men or women, Candis, however, quickly pointed out that she's attracted to 'manly men.'
Candis ended the interview by defending her new pal against criticism that Caitlyn’s show is misleading, as her transition has been viewed as more of a “fairy-tale,” due to her wealth and fame.
She said that while Caitlyn’s experience may be different than most, she dealt with problems of her own. “She’s lived her whole life being transgender, but never being able to do anything about it. That’s just as hard as somebody like me, who at 24 decided that’s what I had to do with my life in order to be OK with things,” Candis explained. “So I went through other struggles, but she did also.”
