'Royal Ice', which is a movie about Monaco's Prince Albert, has been generating quite a buzz around European film festivals. Not only is 'Pretty Woman' and 'Happy Days' director Gary Marshall helming the film, but recent reports are suggesting that the lead role may be played by actor Vin Diesel.
Prince Albert said that he is "a little embarrassed" to see himself being portrayed in the upcoming film. "I haven't really given that much thought on who might portray the role, though I hope it would be someone reasonably athletic."
While the prince has "no preference", he actually mentioned the Fast & Furious star. The prince said, "Maybe Vin Diesel or someone else who is slightly balding?"
The film's plot will be centered on how Prince Albert led bobsleigh team for the Olympics, even if the has no history of the sport and is too small for training and practice.
While the new movie might resemble "Cool Runnings", a sports-comedy classic film released in 1992, the 57-year-old prince assured that they are "not trying to make Cool Runnings, which is an excellent film."
Prince Albert also revealed that the idea for the movie did not come from him, as the inspiration stemmed from screenwriter and member of Monaco's original bobsleigh team Mark Thomas. Thomas' father was among those who opposed the idea of forming a national team for bobsleigh.
'Royal Ice' is expected to hit theaters in 2018 and while many people are anticipating the release, the prince is wary about how the royal family will be depicted on the big screen. Last year, they publicly condemned some fictional aspects in 'Grace of Monaco', which Nicole Kidman starred in.
Monaco's Prince Albert has been on the throne for 10 years, and is the reigning monarch of the Principality of Monaco, head of the Princely House of Grimaldi. Prince Albert is the son of the late Oscar-winning Hollywood legend Grace Kelly.
