How To Keep Your Champagne Bubbly For New Year's Eve

As the midnight approaches on December 31, champagne corks will be around the world popping to usher in the New Year. What do you do when the night ends but your bottle of champagne has not? There are four ways to keep the bubbles stay fresh and longer.

Proper Temperature and Glasses
Chill a bottle of champagne to between 39 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, prepare the narrow glasses and avoid plastic cups. Gently pour the champagne down the angled side of the glass. Your guests will be impressed.

Champagne Stopper
This simple method can help keep your champagne bubbly up to 3-4 days. It is made with plastic and clamps on top of any size bottle and air tight seal can keep your champagne fresh.

Silver Spoon Trick
The second method, frowned upon by wine snobs the world over and dismissed as an old wives' tale, is the silver spoon trick. But there is some truth about this silver spoon trick. Dangle the handle of a silver or silver-plated spoon into the neck of the champagne bottle and it will keep your champagne fizz up to a day.

Buying Smaller Bottles
The best way to avoid the issue altogether is to avoid having leftovers altogether. If you think your guests will not be able to consume the whole bottle, then look for a smaller size half bottle (375ml) or a half-split (187ml).
