'Gotham' Update: Pyromaniac Villain Firefly Set To Appear In Season 2 ... As A Woman!

There's another villain coming to Gotham City, and this baddie will not look anything like he usually does in the comic books!

TV Line has just reported that DC villain Firefly will make an appearance in the second season of 'Gotham.' However, the Firefly who will appear in the Fox drama series will neither be Garfield Lynns or Ted Carson. The new Firefly will be the alter ego of a young woman named Bridgit Pike.

There has been no explanation to Firefly's gender swap in 'Gotham,' but TV Line confirms that the character will be played by Michelle Veintimilla, who has previously appeared in the Lifetime TV series 'Those Who Kill.' Veintimilla will be featured in two episodes of 'Gotham' Season Two.

An official character description for Bridgit Pike reads as follows:

"Enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit's firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her."

Michelle Veintimilla has previously appeared in films like 'Not Cool,' 'Blue in Green' and 'Fathers and Daughters.' She has a small role in the upcoming Olivia Wilde comedy 'Love the Coopers' and is currently filming the drama thriller 'The Depths.'

The second season of 'Gotham' will feature more villains who are set to make crimefighting much more difficult for James Gordon (Ben McKenzie). James Frain will play Theo Galavan while Jessica Lucas will portray his sister Tabitha, and the siblings will be working with some of the established baddies of the series to raise hell in Gotham City.

'Gotham' returns to Fox on September 21.
