Rumored real-life couple Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are making beautiful music together in the upcoming Hank Williams biopic 'I Saw The Light!'
Entertainment Weekly has just released the first movie still from the film, which shows Tom Hiddleston as music legend Hank Williams and Elizabeth Olsen as his wife Audrey Sheppard. The two appear to be singing a duet while Williams' band members look on in the background.
Hank Williams and Audrey Sheppard first met in 1943 and decided to form a band together, where they mostly performed duets. The couple eventually divorced after eight years of marriage due to Williams' addiction to alcohol and painkillers for his spina bifida.
'I Saw the Light' director Marc Abraham also spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the film and on why he chose Tom Hiddleston to play Hank Williams.
According to Abraham, the 'Crimson Peak' star enlisted the help of Grammy Award winner Rodney Crowell to help him hone his guitar and singing skills. As a result, all of the songs in the movie are performed by Tom Hiddleston.
"Every note, every line, everything is Tom," Abraham told EW. "He's crazy talented. If you didn't like him, you'd be jealous of him."
Abraham also defended his decision in choosing the British actor to play an American music legend.
"When people ask me, 'Why'd you get an Englishman?' I say, 'He's the best actor I know to play the part,'" he said. "Who's the most famous southerner ever portrayed in the movies? Scarlett O'Hara. Who plays her? Vivien Leigh."
'I Saw the Light' is based on the book 'Hank Williams: The Biography' that was written by Colin Escott, Bill MacEwen and George Merritt. The film also Bradley Whitford as Fred Rose, Maddie Hasson as Billie Jean, Cherry Jones as Lillie Skipper Williams and Josh Pais as Dore Schary.
'I Saw the Light' will be released on November 27, 2015.
