Way before Emma Watson became a fashion icon and even longer before she became one of the faces of modern-day feminism, she was known to the world as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" movies, but now she's grown up to be quite a princess - a Disney one at that, playing Belle in the upcoming "Beauty and the Beast" remake!
While it's been known for a while that Watson will be playing Belle in the "Beauty and the Beast" remake, during this month's D3 from Disney, where the company gives updates on all their major franchises and upcoming projects, there was further information revealed as well.
According to Broadway World, the D3 attendants got to see the first bits of footage from the "Beauty and the Beast" remake, though none of the material has yet to find its way online, and it's unclear when that'd be getting a major release.
Too Fab reports that, while there wasn't complete footage for the upcoming movie, there were a few first looks, including a glimpse at the village set, which apparently looks exactly the same way as it does on the classic 1991 animated movie, plus Gaston (played by Luke Evans) singing and dancing with his iconic red costume and long ponytail.
As far as Watson's look in the "Beauty and the Beast" remake, fans will have to wait until the footage is released to the public that couldn't attend D3, but the people at the event actually saw Watson wearing Belle's iconic yellow dress and her blue and white one from the beginning of the film.
Confirmation's here that the film will indeed be a musical with the score from the original film plus two more songs written by Alan Menken, who won two Oscars for his work in the 1991 movie.
As MTV reports, besides Watson and Evans, the "Beauty and the Beast" remake boasts a star-filled cast that includes Kevin Kline as Belle's father, "Downton Abbey" actor Dan Stevens as The Beast, Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Stanley Tucci as a new character call Cadenza (a grand piano) and Watson's fellow "Harry Potter" cast member Emma Thompson, who will be playing Mrs. Potts.
