Two winning tickets were found in Arizona and Missouri for the record Powerball jackpot worth more than $587 million, more than any one person could dream about.
According to Good Morning America, Missouri Lottery official Susan Goedde confirmed to ABC News that one of the winning tickers was purchased in Dearbord, Mo. at a Trex Mart.
"If you buy Powerball tickets at this location, please find them and check them closely," said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery in a statement. The winner of the ticket has not come forward yet. "If you find you're holding the winning ticket, be sure you sign the back and put it in a safe place until you can take it to a Missouri Lottery office. You will also want to get some legal and financial advice before you claim."
The winning numbers for the jackpot were 5, 23, 16, 22, and 29, with Powerball number 6.
In Arizona, officials said that they had no information on who won in the stant but would announce it in a new conference.
The jackpot was $585.5 million. The two winners will split the hefty check and will each get $293.75 million; cash payment will be $192.5 million each.
"There were 58 winners of $1 million and there were eight winners of $2 million. So a total of $74 million," said Chuck Strutt, Director of the Multi-State Lottery Association, speaking of the millions of other players who won smaller prizes.
The jackpot got this big because it rolled over 16 consecutive times before anyone won.
Not only did the winning ticket holders get money; so did the stores that sold the winning jackpot ticket.
"I guess we'll be able to give out Christmas bonuses," said Trex Mart General Manager Kenny Gilbert, according to the Chicago Tribune. "That's nice, especially at this time of year."
Both the winners have 180 days to claim their prize.
