See The First Trailer for Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight'

Quentin Tarantino is returning to the Wild West in his latest film. Yesterday, The Weinstein Company unveiled the first teaser for the two time Academy Award winning director's eighth film, the aptly titled 'The Hateful Eight.'

The film's official synopsis reads:

While racing toward the town of Red Rock in post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) encounter another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man (Walton Goggins) who claims to be a sheriff. Hoping to find shelter from a blizzard, the group travels to a stagecoach stopover located on a mountain pass. There, they encounter four strangers, and soon learn that they may not make it to their destination after all.

In addition, the film also includes Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Demian Bichir, Bruce Dern, and Channing Tatum among its star studded cast of characters.

From the few glimpses we get in the clip, the film looks like classic Tarantino fare filled with the snappy dialogue, crazy characters, and unflinching violence that have become his trademark.

This is Tarantino's second consecutive homage to the classic 'Spaghetti Western', following his southern slavery themed 'Django Unchained' which won two Oscars in 2013.

The Hateful Eight has taken a long and arduous road to production. Tarantino previously said he was scrapping the project after the script was leaked online by Gawker. Last year he filed a lawsuit against the website saying:

"Gawker Media has made a business of predatory journalism, violating people's rights to make a buck. This time they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff's screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally."

But he opted to revise the screenplay and continue with the film.

The film will get a small limited release on Christmas Day in select 70mm cinemas. It will open in theatres everywhere on January 18, 2016.
