A Resident Evil 2 Remake Is Coming

Japanese game developer Capcom has just confirmed a remake of Resident Evil 2 is on the way. The company has just released an official announcement video sharing all the details about the highly anticipated project.

Project head Yoshiaki Hirabayashi says that the game was given the green light thanks to the fans' "incredible passion and support". He then adds:

"You've been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven't been able to make it happen... until now! We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."

During the video he reveals a T-Shirt that says 'We Do It' in reference to the game getting the go ahead.

Hirabayashi tells fans to manage expectations though. the game is still in the very early stages of development and it will be sometime before it release.

In a seperate statement made to videogamer, a Capcom representative says:

"We're pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development," a representative said.

"As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don't have any additional information or assets to share at this time.

"For now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we've received on this title. We're looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for."

No word was given on what platforms the game is coming to, but it will likely follow in the footsteps of the first Resident Evil Remaster which released earlier this year to favorable reviews on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Hopefully we won't have to wait long for a return to Raccoon City.
