Last week, organic grocer Whole Foods was at the center of some social media controversy when a customer discovered bottles of $6 'Asparagus Water' for sale at a location in Brentwood, California.
Somewhere in L.A., Whole Foods executives are laughing at all of us.

The beverage, which was nothing more than a bottle of water with 3 stalks of asparagus soaking inside, drew flak from many corners of the internet, with many skewering the product as overpriced and absurd.
The company quickly straightened out the situation, claiming the drink was incorrectly made and removed it from store shelves. They told The Hollywood Reporter:
"There's been some miscommunication around this product. It was meant to be water with the essence of vegetables and/or mushrooms to be used as broth (similar to a bone broth), which are typically made over a long period of time soaking in water."
"The product was made incorrectly and has since been removed from the one store, Brentwood, where it was carried We would love your help clarifying that this product is not available and was removed from the Brentwood store as soon as this issue was brought to our attention."
This hasn't stopped John Oliver from poking fun at the whole mishap on the latest episode of his show 'Last Week Tonight'.
The comedian kicked off his roasting with this gem: "First, nobody should be buying pre-made asparagus water when you make it yourself for free every time you eat asparagus." He then proceeded to show a spoof apology video from Whole Foods, which featured equally absurd (but fictional) products such as: Granola gently blown in between two electric fans, Avocado Ice (which is just an Avocado atop a block of ice), and a whole lot more.
