Zac Efron, will soon be seen shirtless, in slow motion and on the big screen, as the actor is in talks now to star alongside with Dwayne Johnson in Paramount's Baywatch. Their movie takes on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards.
Director Seth Gordon of the 'Horrible Bosses' film will be behind the camera for all the slo-mo beach shots.
The project has been in years of development, and the production is finally wrapping up. In recent weeks it added Seth Gordon to helm the film. The casting of Zac Efron set the movie up for a production to start in early 2016.
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the most recent draft of the film, where the plot centers Dwayne Johnson (a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard) who got no choice but to team up with Zac Efron (a young rule-flouting hothead) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction, where it is in danger because of an oil tycoon.
The American film producer Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are producing, as they collaborate with The Rock for the fourth time. And in some part of the film's production, Dwayne Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions will also produce.
Johnson announced it first on Twitter that he would be joined by the "High School Musical," Dwayne Johnson wrote, "It's BIG. Me and bud @ZacEfron been talkin' bout this one for a long time. And someone get my baby oil. #RatedR"
Zac Efron replied with a smiley emoji wearing sunglasses, "So stoked brother - baby oil for 2 plz."
Along with Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza, Zac Efron just finished his project on Fox and Chernin Entertainment's comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Efron is also working with Robert De Niro for Lionsgate's road trip comedy Dirty Grandpa. Zac Efron will reunite with Rogen and Rose Byrne for Neighbors 2 at the end of August. All of Zac Efron's three movies will be released in 2016.
