James Holmes The Colorado Theater Shooter Sentenced to Life in Prison

On Friday,  after a jury failed to agree on whether he should get the death penalty for his murderous attack on a packed movie premiere, James Holmes, the Colorado theater shooter will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The 24 murder counts of James Holmes did not reach  a unanimous verdict as said by the nine women and three men of the jury. This completely removes the death penalty for failed neuroscientist, who blamed Holmes and his mental illness for his calculated murders of 12 people.

When Judge Carlos Samour read the sentencing verdicts, James Holmes stood with his hands in his pockets. A female juror said to a reporter that under no circumstances the disagreement on what the sentence should be cannot be resolved. However, the  mother of Holmes, Arlene, began crying and she put her head on Robert's (husband) shoulder.

The female juror (who wants to be unknown) said, "There was one firm holdout against the death penalty and two ... who were on the fence," the female juror also said, "I don't know if they could have been swayed or not."

After the graphic nature of the evidence that made the 15-week trial very difficult - the female juror also said that she had a life-changing experience.

Reportedly, James Holmes told a psychiatrist, "I shot at people trying to get away. I shot at people trying to leave the theatre, to make sure others wouldn't follow."

The 27 year old Holmes was convicted of the capital murder of 12 people - Jonathan Blunk, 26; Alexander Boik, 18; Jesse E. Childress, 29; Gordon Cowden, 51; Ghawi, 24; John Thomas Larimer, 27; Matthew McQuinn, 27; Micayla Medek, 23; Veronica Moser-Sullivan, 6; Alex M. Sullivan, 27; Alexander C. Teves, 24; Rebecca Ann Wingo, 32.

George Brauchler, Arapahoe County District Attorney, stated, "As frustrated as I am at not achieving the result we wanted, those jurors did a hell of a job," Brauchler also said, "I am disappointed at the outcome, I'm not disappointed with the system. I still think death is justice for what that guy did but the system said otherwise.
