The Mindy Project Saved by Hulu and Mindy Kaling is Grateful

Fox cancelled the American romantic comedy television series "The Mindy Project" in May, however, the American actress, comedian, and writer, Vera Mindy Chokalingam, known professionally as Mindy Kaling, was grateful when the company Hulu stepped in and asked for 26 episodes, which is the season's biggest order of "The Mindy Project."

Mindy Kaling stated, "To be honest, after being on network TV for 11 years, I'm kind of happy about that. I'd rather just focus on the creative and I'm happy that they're not trying to pull me into those conversations," Mindy Kaling also said, "I'm so grateful and I just want to make the show better than it's ever been," "We went from 'We're never doing this show again' to having more work than ever."

Comcast's NBCUniversal co-owned the American online company and ad-supported streaming service that offers a selection of TV shows, clips, movies - Hulu. The company Hulu adds  to Disney's ABC Television Group and 21st Century Fox's Fox Broadcasting Co. And as Hulu already has an exclusive subscriptionvideo on demand (SVOD) rights to the show's three seasons,it became  "The Mindy Project" second home.

The cast member, producer and writer on the series ,Ike Barinholtz said, "I think if we really changed the show and made it more risqué and put it more on a tilt towards stuff you might find on HBO or Showtime, we would maybe turn off some of our core viewers."

As the The Mindy Project will have different time constraints that exist in network television, it will feature more of the supporting cast like Ed Weeks, Beth Grant and Xosha Roquemore.

Mindy Kaling said, "Right now, I just want to make sure that I get ('The Mindy Project') right," "I see so many people that I admire who do it and I've been approached to do it before. I don't want the people who've spent years of their life on this show to feel I've checked out by doing something else."
