A few months after David Letterman retired from television after two decades changing the ways of comedy, Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" 2015 debut is just around the corner in September, and just ahead of the premiere, the first guest was announced - and it's one of the biggest stars in Hollywood!
After being one of the last guests Letterman had in his own show (and even handcuffing himself to the legendary comedian to keep him from retiring), George Clooney's set to appear on Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" 2015 debut episode on CBS one month from now, on September 8.
According to Vulture, Clooney was announced as the Stephen Colbert "Late Show" 2015 first guest this Friday morning, when the "Colbert Report" host took to his Twitter to say Clooney had been chosen for the milestone first episode, asking his followers if someone would "let him know" that he was appearing on the show!
Long before Stephen Colbert "Late Show" 2015 job was announced, the comedian and talk show host spoke numerous times about Clooney in his Comedy Central show, often referring to him as "that hunk of left-wing man-meat" while in character - so the results should be quite interesting!
Vanity Fair reports that, while the first episode featuring a new talk show host doesn't really mean anything in particular about what's to come (they cite the example of Mila Kunis and Tom Hanks as the first guests of James Corden's "Late Late Show"), Clooney's first appearance on Stephen Colbert "Late Show" 2015 could see both of these figures, who are famously liberal with strong political ideas, going more into these subjects in a humorous way.
According to People Magazine, politics aside, some things Clooney may be discussing when speaking to Colbert next month could include his one-year wedding anniversary to Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) or any of his two films currently in post-production.
In any case, there's little doubt that Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" 2015 debut will be spectacular!
