#JONVOYAGE: Celebrities Say Farewell to Jon Stewart

Last night, Jon Stewart's 16 year tenure as host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show came to an end. To commemorate the occasion, celebrities and political figures took to Social media and other platforms to bid adieu to the comedian and satirist. Here are some of the best tributes from Stewart's final days.

A day before Stewart's final show, Vulture published a retrospective featuring interviews with several Daily Show employees and comedians. Last Week Tonight's John Oliver, who got his start on TV as a correspondent for The Daily Show, had this to say of his former boss and mentor:

"He's the best person who has ever done political comedy. No one will do it better than him. Ever. I can't really say enough about him. I would not be in this country if it was not for him. He's taught me everything I know of any value. I owe him everything. As an English person quite allergic to sincerity, I owe that man everything."

On Twitter, the reaction was just as heartfelt.

The most touching farewell came during the show itself when Stewart's good friend Stephen Colbert came on.

"For 16 years you and your basic cable fellowship of funny clutched that ring of power and trudged up the steep slopes of mount Doom." Said Colbert. "We owe you because we learn from you, "I know you are not asking for this but on behalf of so many people whose lives you've changed over the past 16 years, thank you."

The Daily Show will return in 2016 with new host Trevor Noah.
