Martin Scorsese is coming back to HBO and this time he's bringing rock legend Mick Jagger with him. The network just revealed the first teaser for 'Vinyl', a raunchy, rock and roll filled romp through 1970's New York City.
The minute long clip centers on record executive Richie Finestra, played by actor Bobby Cannavale.
'So this is my story, clouded by lost brain cells and maybe a little bulls***. You know what? How about I shut up, put the record on, drop the needle and crank up the volume.' Says Finestra at the start of the clip, kicking off an energy fueled montage scored by The New York Dolls' Personality Crisis. We see the crowded venues, hard partying, and general insanity that defined the period.
Aside from Cannavale, the trailer gives us glimpses of Olivia Wilde as Finestra's (presumably) disgruntled wife. Last year, Rolling Stone published a list of some of the additional cast members:
The rest of the American Century roster features Juno Temple as the ambitious A&R assistant, Jamie Vine; Max Casella as Julius "Julie" Silver, the aging Head of A&R in a young man's game; Jack Quaid as Clark Morelle, a young A&R executive; P.J. Byrne as Scott Levitt, Head of Legal; and J.C. MacKenzie as Skip Fontaine, another partner of Richie's and Head of Sales.
Scorsese and Jagger will serve as the show's executive producers. Terrence Winter, another HBO veteran, will serve as Vinyl's showrunner. Scorsese and Winter previously worked together on the prohibition era gangster ensemble "Boardwalk Empire", which wrapped up its run last year after five seasons. Scorsese directed the pilot episode of Boardwalk back in 2010. According to Variety, he'll be doing the same for Vinyl's first show in 2016.
