Sony Sets Movie Release Dates: Two ‘Bad Boys’ Sequels, New ‘Ghostbusters’ Date, 'Jumanji,' 'Barbie,' 'Uncharted,' ‘Resident Evil 6’ + More

After the release of "Bad Boys II" in 2003, fans have been longing for another sequel to the movie. Since then, rumors have long been going around that a third movie would be in the works, much to the disappointment of fans.

Now 12 years later, Sony announced that the "Bad Boys" franchise would not only be getting one, but two sequels in the coming years.

Unfortunately, fans would have to wait a bit longer - "Bad Boys 3" has a release date of February 17, 2017, while "Bad Boys 4" will be on July 3, 2019.

Not only that, but Geek Tyrant reports that "Transformers" director Michael Bay will no longer beT working on the two succeeding films. Rumors claim that "The A-Team" and "The Grey" director Joe Carnahan could possibly be the new director for "Bad Boys 3," in addition to re-writing the script.

Fans can expect to still see Martin Lawrence to bring his Marcus Burnett role back to life. In fact, he's been as excited for the third installment as the rest of us.

Although there has been no confirmation yet, Will Smith will also be coming back to reprise his role as Mike Lowrey. As the website puts it, "we have to assume Will Smith is coming back, otherwise they'd probably just abandon this film series altogether."

Sony has also announced release dates for other films, including Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence's sci-fi film called "Passengers," "The Dark Tower," "Resident Evil 6," Edgar Wright's "Baby Driver," and "Uncharted" to name a few.
