'Deadpool' Director Tim Miller Reveals Whether Wade Wilson Will Break The Fourth Wall And All The Green Lantern Jokes

The 'Deadpool' trailer has finally been released, and the world now knows what the Merc with the Mouth is capable of. One of the few things that Deadpool is really good at is breaking the fourth wall and poking fun at pop culture and even himself.

Now that Deadpool is being portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, it's a guarantee that the character will be throwing a few raunchy jokes about his previous incarnation in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.' But it's no surprise that Deadpool also loves making fun of the other comic book character Ryan Reynolds has portrayed: Green Lantern.

In the 'Deadpool' trailer, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) threw a zinger at Green Lantern's suit as he is being carted away for his operation. "Please don't make the supersuit green," he says to the scientists, "Or animated!"

Director Tim Miller confirms with Empire Magazine that the joke was a Green Lantern reference, but it also found the movie almost breaking a 'Deadpool' rule in going through the fourth wall.

"It got a good laugh at Comic-Con," Miller told Empire. "For the most part, we try to stick to the rule that Wade Wilson can't break the fourth wall. He's not aware that he's in a movie. Deadpool is. He only breaks the fourth wall when he's Deadpool. So we're tiptoeing on the edge of breaking our own rule there, because he's still Wade at that point."

Of course, this isn't the only Green Lantern joke in the whole movie.

"We shot a few more Green Lantern jokes, but I'm not sure how many will survive the cut," Miller said. "Ryan definitely had some Green Lantern issues to work out."

Tim Miller shares an unscripted scene where Ryan Reynolds has some fun with Green Lantern puns.

"We had about a minute's worth of dialogue between him and Colossus where he talks about it, like, 'So a guy comes with a thousand-dollar suit and says, "We want you to play a superhero," but there's no script yet and the release date is completely unmakeable...' He goes on this whole anti-Green Lantern run, but I'm not sure it'll stay in, because probably not even half the people in the theatres will get those jokes."

Find out how many Green Lantern jokes are in 'Deadpool' when the film hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
