The game, Angry Birds, looks relatively plot free and would therefore present an interesting challenge to people writing the new movie which will be based on the popular game. Fans had been expecting a movie spin off anyway; the game is so incredibly addictive. It was almost as if the movie spin off was inevitable.
The new movie is going to star the voice talents of Peter Dinklage, Jason Sudeikis, Maya Rudolph, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, and Josh Gad. Josh Gad recently revealed that he was reluctant to accept the voice acting role in the film. While talking to IGN in London and he said, "It's really a thing" he countered. "And in fact, when I was approached about it, I actually said no, for many reasons, the most significant of which was I did Olaf [in Frozen] and I don't want to play another animated character, especially right now. The producer was like 'Just let me kind of pitch out this movie to you' and did this reel for me of what he was thinking about, and it was this 30-minute visual pitch and it blew my socks off."
He went on to concede that the movie is really irreverent. It is like the LEGO Movie in many respects. It is subversive and funny and unexpectedly smart and really beautiful. He claimed that it was actually gorgeous. He declared, "The little I've seen of it has really impressed me." It remains to be seen if the movie will be as popular as the game, but the movie will certainly be a curiosity worth giving a look see at the box office.
