The upcoming action flick 'Hitman: Agent 47' is slowly approaching its premiere date, and 20th Century Fox has released some featurettes to introduce the film's interesting characters.
The latest featurette shines the spotlight on the female protagonist Katia van Dees, who is played by Hannah Ware. The English actress offers a simple introduction to the character, saying that "Katia is on this quest for find the nameless man who she remembers in some way."
Producer Adrian Askariah reveals that Katia van Dees is more than what she appears to be.
"It turns out that she has latent abilities that have been genetically engineered, but she doesn't know it," he said.
Zachary Quinto, who plays John Smith in the live action adaptation of the 'Hitman' video game, tells Katia van Dees that her father started the Agent Program. "You're the key to finding your father," he says to her.
According to Rupert Friend, who plays the title role of 'Agent 47,' Katia van Dees is slowly discovering the truth about her identity. "This is a character who is learning a huge amount about herself," he says in the featurette.
Producer Alex Young adds, "This is a real troubled character."
Katia van Dees may appear to be a genetically-engineered weapon, but Hannah Ware insists that the character is trying not to be who she is meant to be.
"She's fighting her true nature because you can see how ferocious she is," Ware said of the character.
In the end, Katia van Dees could prevail. "She's the reluctant hero," Hannah Ware said.
'Hitman: Agent 47' also stars 'Game of Thrones' actor Ciaran Hinds as Katia's father Dr. Litvenko and Thomas Kretschmann as Syndicate International chairman Le Clerq.
The film is based on the hit IO Interactive game 'Hitman' which was first released in 2000. The game has previously been adapted in the 2007 'Hitman' film starring Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47.
'Hitman: Agent 47' will be released on August 21, 2015.
