He saw the blood hair and thought he had hit jackpot in his flight seatmate. And she turns, and it gets awkward. Cody Simpson recently was a guest in NOVA, and told the early morning hosts, Fitzy and Wippa about the incident last June when he had to sit beside his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid for the entire flight from Canada to the US. And like any other normal 18-year old boy, he had to document the experience and duly post it on Instagram.
The Surfboard boy was dating the 20-year old Sports Illustrated cover girl for two years before they finally ended the relationship last May citing conflicts in schedules and never finding time for each other. They also said they would remain friends.
Friends, of course, do not refer to flight seatmates. Both just attended the Much Music Awards and were on their way back home when they took the same flight. During the red carpet, fans noticed Simpson was not his usual chirpy self. Obviously, the one month break-up has not yet healed old wounds and they did not particularly like being thrown together by fate.
Simpson narrated in the interview how he almost hit on his seatmate before he found out who she was. Apparently, the model had her head down, and it was only when Simpson was beside her that she looked up and then he recognized her. She looked at him, wondering what he was doing there, and the blonde boy had to explain it was his seat. But it was difficult to keep a straight face when life throws you lemons and he couldn't help but laugh. His humor was evident in his post 'when u get seated next to ur ex on a plane', complete with a skull-face.
Hadid is now dating Joe Jonas, while Simpson has not found a permanent replacement yet. He has been spotted with different young women.
At one other time, they narrowly missed each other in the airport at Australia. Simpson is from Down Under.
