'Game of Thrones' might usually choose to cast relative unknowns in most of the pivotal roles in the series. Kit Harington has never starred in an international film before he was cast as Jon Snow, and Emilia Clarke has only appeared in one Syfy film before she became Daenerys Targaryen.
However, the HBO show also opts to get established actors to portray important characters. Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon were played by Sean Bean and Mark Addy in the first seasons, while Charles Dance's Tywin Lannister endured for three seasons. The superb portrayal of these actors brought their characters closer to the audience.
With that said, 'Game of Thrones' is about to unleash another important character through HBO veteran Ian McShane. EW has recently reported that the 'Deadwood' star would have a "relatively small amount of screen-time during the season, yet his character is of key importance."
But who will Ian McShane portray in 'Game of Thrones' Season Six?
Fans have already started speculating that Ian McShane could play someone who has not yet been mentioned in George R.R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book series, but the possibilities are tilting towards an established character.
The Greyjoys are set to make an appearance in the sixth season of 'Game of Thrones,' and some fans are already guessing that Ian McShane would play Euron Greyjoy, who is a skilled fighter and has once possessed a dragon egg. Euron has also declared himself 'King of the Isles and the North.'

Another character that would be fitting for someone of Ian McShane's talents is Randyll Tarly, father of Jon Snow's best friend Sam. Randyll Tarly plays a key role in saving the Tyrells from the Faith of the Seven, and also happens to possess a Valyrian steel sword called Heartsbane.

Whether he plays a Greyjoy or a Tarly, Ian McShane's addition to the 'Game of Thrones' cast will guarantee more action and excitement when Season Six finally airs next year.
