#isurviveandTHRIVE Margaret Cho's Call for Sexual Assault Survivors To Stand Up

Known for her wits, Margaret Cho an American comedian, singer, fashion designer, author and actress have been taking twitter by storm my raising awareness about sexual assault with a #isurviveandTHRIVE hash tag which encourages women to speak up as per NBC Bay Area. She first started the campaign by posting a tweet last Thursday stating:

"You know what would really break the Internet?" If every rape and molestation victim came forward and said #isurviveandTHRIVE - do you?"

After just a couple of hours the post was quoted and re tweeted more than a hundred times which was followed by her supporters who also stood up and started sharing their stories.

I take a little bit of my own body back every day #isurviveandTHRIVE @AshtangaCairo #Life -@SGardinier

#isurviveandTHRIVE is so important! We need to recognize the army of survivors out there - we are not alone. There is healing in community. @BestStacieEver

It was last February 2015, when Cho openly admitted that she was a victim of childhood sexual assault during her interview on NBC news, she made a statement regarding what she went through stating:

"I was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and also a rape victim. These all happened before I was an adult, "They were traumatic experiences that I needed to work through. And as a result, unfortunately, I did become sexualized very early, but not by choice. I wouldn't say that my experiences were great until I at least became an adult."

"I want people to know that they are not alone" she then added "Rape, molestation, sexual violence is more common than anyone admits. If all survivors - I say survivors, not victims - if all survivors came forward we could actually see the problem clearly and find a solution and hopefully heal."

Margaret Cho have been openly and bravely talking about what she went through, shedding a light for other victims that went through the same fate as hers, she's never been shy about openly talking about her platform, empowering other sexual assault victims to speak up as well.

The hash tag #isurviveandTHRIVE have already been used by hundreds if not thousands of sexual assault victims that decided to speak up, Margaret Cho then ended her statement saying:

"This is my life's work; I want to heal the world."
