Jared Padalecki is one of the sought actors in his times; he starred in two hit series Supernatural and Gilmore Girls and now he's back in making a buzz by joining a new charity campaign "Always Keep Fighting" to fight depression. As reported on CNN news, Padalecki suffered anxiety attack while on the set of his hit sci-fi series "Supernatural" 7 years ago in which he was then diagnosed with clinical depression.
Padalecki then admitted that his friend's suicide and his ( Padalecki) depression urged him to raise awareness regarding the disease, shedding a light to individuals suffering from it. As per Huffinton Post, Padelecki then admitted his depression, asking his fans and loved ones to support him saying:
"I, in the past, have had my own struggles of not [being] so happy with where I am in life, which is strange and I think it goes to show," he said. "Maybe a lot of people don't know this, but Season 3, we were shooting an episode, and I went back to my trailer to get changed and just kind of broke down."
Super Natural actor Jared Padalecki then stated this on his red carpet speech:
"I still deal with anxiety on a daily basis,". "A lot of artists are emotional beings, but we have to behave like, 'Hey I'm great, I'm living the life!' That's what we think the audience wants."
He then added:
"life and art are about being there for someone and someone being there for you. For me, life is about deeper meaning. I've always tended towards honesty and being forthright. I've been lucky that anytime I've been honest, I've been approached with sincerity."
Celebrities play an important role in raising awareness and campaigns, showing the world that they too go through want regular individuals go through, showing the world that going through these struggles is perfectly normal.
President and CEO of the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, Dr. Jeffrey Borenstein stated:
"When celebrities speak publicly about their own experiences with depression or other psychiatric conditions, it's very helpful "It opens up a conversation about these issues. If someone you admire is going through the same thing you might be going through, it makes a difference with people, it causes people to seek help."
