After playing teen wizard Harry Potter for roughly a decade, Daniel Radcliffe is doing what he can to change public perception attached to that role, taking a wide array of different roles. He is penciling a trip to Quantico into his already packed itinerary, set to take a bite out of crime and terrorism with the lead role in Imperium, from Atomic Features and Tycor International Film Company.
Based on real events, Radcliffe will star as a young FBI agent who goes undercover to find and stop white supremacists trying to make a dirty bomb. It's based on the experiences of Michael German, an FBI undercover agent who spent years inside United States neo-Nazi and militia groups.
Short filmmaker Daniel Ragussis makes his feature directorial debut, from a script he cowrote with German. Produced by Ty Walker, Dennis Lee and Simon Taufique, filming is scheduled to begin this fall. UTA independent film group will sell it.
Imperium makes Radcliffe's busy schedule even busier. He's currently filming the indie comedy Swiss Army Man with Paul Dano, and will next be seen Fox's Frankenstein retelling, Victor Frankenstein, opposite James McAvoy, which hits theaters November 25th. Soon after, he'll be seen on tv portraying Rockstar Games president Sam Houser in the BBC2 telefilm Game Changer, about the creation of the Grand Theft Auto series of video games.
Radcliffe is repped by by UTA, Sue Latimer at ARG and attorney Fred Toczek. Right now there's no word on when Imperium will shoot, but with writers, producers, a director, and now a star in place, you have to think that it will try to get rolling before too long. At least before Daniel Radcliffe realizes that he stretched himself too thin and has to trim some projects from his slate. We can expect another great film which will show another side of Radcliffe's acting.
