Former One Direction member, Zayn Malik, who left the boy band four months ago to pursue a solo career, admits he left the group to be able to make 'real music'. And now, he just signed a contract with RCA Records, according to reports.
Malik, 22, announced on Twitter about officially becoming part of RCA. He also revealed the real reason for leaving the British boy boand, as it was an opportunity for him to pursue 'real music'.
He wrote, "I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA!!"
The young singer also sent a photo of himself on his Instagram page, signing a contract while smiling into the camera.
Zayn Malik's hashtag '#REALME', which he tweeted after announcing his new venture, has gone viral on social media. However, some One Direction fans seem to disagree and didn't take the singer's tweet too well.
One fan commented on his tweet, saying "Were u not playing #realmusic being in a band selling out stadiums across the world."
Simon Cowell on the other hand, is obviously still in full support to Malik even after he left the band. On Twitter, the 1D manager sent his congratulations to the singer for signing a deal with the RCA Records.
While Zayn Malik seems to be really doing well on his solo career, the now-four-piece One Direction has just kicked off their North American tour earlier this July, which happens to be the band's first official concert since Malik's departure.
"We're currently recording and writing our next album, so we'll be working on that," Harry Styles said in his recent statements. "The songs are coming together quickly, so we're buzzling with the new stuff."
Styles went on, saying "It carries a slightly new identity, but I think it's an obvious change from [Four] in a positive way. We've branched out and worked with different writers, and we've got some great songs!"
