"I started this line because I wanted to know: Where are the normal clothes? This really is a selfish venture. I wanted to build a better closet for myself," McCarthy tells People.

The clothing collection carries "everything a woman needs," says Melissa McCarthy. From dresses, to tailored separates, to denim, the line boasts of versatility and McCarthy's personality.

"The fun of it is you should be able to put these things together and not have to make a choice about going out to dinner or getting the sweater. Wear the sweater to dinner," says Melissa.

It even gets better: Melissa McCarthy designed her pieces to answer real-world needs. Melissa even shares her love for pockets. "I wants pockets in my dresses. I put pockets in everything! I want pockets inside my pockets."

Not many people know about Melissa McCarthy's fashion history. In fact, she was set to study at New York's sought-after Fashion Institute of Technology before she dropped out to pursue acting.

"It's always what I thought I would do. I went into clothing and textiles in college and moved here with [shoe designer] Brian Atwood. I was going to finish at FIT and he made me do stand-up on the second night," Melissa McCarthy shared.

All the items in the Melissa McCarthy Seven7 line carry sizes from four to 28. Not only that, they're all priced under $150.

Melissa McCarthy's Seven7 collection will be available at Lane Bryant, Macy's, HSN, and on her website. The line is set for an official debut on September 1st, but will introduce the line on HSN on August 13th.
