After months of rumors putting him on the brink of landing two different roles in the DC Comics cinematic universe, it seems the "Star Trek" actor won't be playing superhero Green Lantern in an upcoming adaptation, but Chris Pine would rather join the "Wonder Woman" cast instead.
Although Pine's role in the "Wonder Woman" cast has yet to be confirmed, the fact is the 34 year-old actor seemingly already confirmed his appearance in the upcoming movie, which will serve as the first stand-alone movie for the DC Comics Amazon heroine after the character's officially introduced in next year's film "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."
According to an exclusive from The Wrap, Pine joining the "Wonder Woman" cast is already a done deal, as the actor most famous for playing captain James T. Kirk in the "Star Trek" reboot has already signed with DC Movie Universe for a multiple-film deal covering the film as well as any sequel in the future.
Cinema Blend reports that Pine's role in the "Wonder Woman" cast would be that of Steve Trevor, who originally (or at least in the 1940s comic books) meets Diana Prince (played by Gal Gadot) after crashing on the Amazon women's home island, where they both fall in love.
Pine's character is the longtime love interest of the super heroine, though it's unclear how their origin story will be told as Prince will be introduced to the movie adaptations before her stand-alone film, so they may meet through flashbacks introducing the "Wonder Woman" cast.
It's unclear whether the "Into the Woods" star chose the character of Steve Trevor over Green Lantern or the latter was never offered to him in the first place, even though rumors circulated for weeks.
According to Forbes, Trevor won't be just a love interest for Gadot's character in the upcoming film, but rather have "plenty of action to keep him busy" besides being a trophy boyfriend for a beautiful super heroine.
For now, neither the actor's representatives or the studio have confirmed Pine's participation on the "Wonder Woman" cast.
