A fifteen-year old boy was arrested on Monday, 8 p.m, after being charged for murdering an 8-year old girl named Madyson Middleton in Santa Cruz, California.
Reports say that Madyson was last spotted on Sunday afternoon, July 26, where she was seen riding on her scooter. An immediate search for the little girl's body was conducted and hundreds of concerned individuals joined, including the homeless people, who went to check the areas in the local levee.
The body was found inside a large recycling bin in Santa Cruz, just a couple of steps away from the front door of her own home.
On Monday, July 27, Santa Cruz Police Chief officer, Kevin Vogel, confirmed that the lost body of the young girl was found 'inside of a dumpster' at about 7:55 in the evening.
"This is extraordinarily heartbreaking news I'm about to give to you," he said. "This evening at approximately 7:55 pm, our detectives discovered the body of a young female inside of a dumpster at the complex located behind me."
As for the investigation, the authorities believe that the young girl knew the suspect as he also lived in the same apartment complex where Mady resides in. Authorities have also pointed out that the boy lured the victim into his apartment before he killed her.
After the heartbreaking news, everyone in their area were left in shock, who honestly thought that Madyson was kidnapped. One of the neighbors, Jeannie Cartabiano said that they all thought she was taken away to a different area.
"We all had this idea that she had been taken from the site.. That's what's so shocking.", she said. "To find out that [it might be] one of our own is shocking. That she was at the site this whole time is shocking. The whole thing is hard to comprehend."
While the investigation is still ongoing, there are no further details about Madyson's case have been revealed and the suspect's real motive is still unknown.
