Rihanna Blocked From Playing Free Concert In Honor of Freddie Gray's Death By Baltimore Police

Earlier reports said that the city of Baltimore went through a massive protest as a call for justice for the death of 25-year old African-American Freddie Gray, who reportedly died at the hands of the city police officers.

Following Freddie Gray's death in mid-April, chart-topping star Rihanna, who expressed that she wanted to join the protesters and perform a free concert in Baltimore, was reportedly blocked by the authorities.

Reports say that one unidentified police officer detailed the conversation he had with Rihanna's representatives, who were saying that the singer really wanted to be part of the protest. The officer also said that the 27-year old singer planned to arrive at the given venues via plane, or in order to divert the attention of media and press, Riri's other option was either to travel via train or car if needed.

He went on to say that Riri's reps were also asking for additional security and they even went to the communications office to raise their request for assistance.

However, apart from the claims of the police officer regarding the in-between stories of Rihanna's side and the Baltimore authorities, another report pointed out that Baltimore police cancelled the supposedly 'free concert' because Riri was not able to provide a proper permit that would allow her to perform at specific venues, including North Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Though Rihanna's show didn't go as the way it was exactly planned, Freddie Gray, whose death is put at the hands of six Baltimore police officers after he suffered a serious injury in his spinal cord, gathered huge support from many celebrities apart from Rihanna, who showed their support in social media and in person.
