Keith Richards, Rolling Stones songwriter and lead guitarist is the subject of a new documentary, "Keith Richards: Under the Influence," coming to Netflix in September. The "Keith Richards: Under the Influence" documentary is a conjunction of Rolling Stones lead guitarist (Richards) first solo album (Crosseyed Heart) in more than 20 years.
Director Morgan Neville earned an Academy Award for exploring careers of several backup singers in "20 Feet From Stardom," but this time, Morgan Neville looks at one of the most respected songwriters and guitarists in rock music - Keith Richards.
Director Morgan Neville stated, "If there's a Mount Rushmore of rock 'n' roll, Keith's face is surely on it," Neville also said, "He has always represented the soul of rock music - for all of the light and dark shades that implies. To my relief, Keith Richards turned out to be a real man - full of humor, knowledge and wisdom. That's the real Keith we've worked to capture in our film."
While Director Morgan Neville was working for "20 Feet From Stardom," the director collaborated with Keith Richards and the music of the Rolling Stones as he profiled the career of singer Merry Clayton, who famously sang backup with the Rolling Stones. Merry Clayton signatures the lines in the song "Gimme Shelter."
The new record of Keith Richards is collaborated by guitarist Waddy Wachtel and drummer, co-producer Steve Jordan. Both Wachtel and Steve Jordan played on Richards' previous solo outings. Richards' new track also features Norah Jones, Spooner Oldham, Aaron Neville and Larry Campbell.
Keith Richards said at the time he released the "Trouble" video, "I had a ball making this new record and working with Steve Jordan and Waddy Wachtel again," Richards also said, "There's nothing like walking into a studio and having absolutely no idea what you're going to come out with on the other end. If you're looking for 'Trouble,' you've come to the right place."
