Ian Somerhalder Hinted About 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Following Nina Dobrev's Exit

Following the 6th season of the popular hit series 'The Vampire Diaries', actor and model Ian Somerhalder has hinted several changes and teased about what's to come in the 7th season now that Nina Dobrev is no longer part of the show.

The upcoming 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 is said to be something that would circulate more on the relationships than mythologies, following the exit of Nina Dobrev's character, Elena Gilbert.

Though everyone's guessing about what would be the lives of the remaining characters in the series without Elena Gilbert, fans seem to be wondering more about Ian Somerhalder's character, Damon Salvatore, whose life revolves to his beloved girlfriend Elena.

Somerhalder, 36, said that his character in the upcoming season would be someone who's 'super-volatile and very unpredictable'.

"We want to go back to that simple type of storytelling, where it's sexy, dark, and funny," he said. Somerhalder also teased that the elder Salvatore would have no one to hold on to but Bonnie, the Benett witch and Elena's best friend.

"Bonnie is truly one of the only people Damon would go to bat for," the actor added. "There are very few people that he would do this for, but he loves Bonnie."

Besides teasing about Damon Salvatore's future in the new season, Somerhalder also did not miss out on hinting some of the 'great scenes' coming up.

"There are actually a couple o really great scenes coming up," he said. 'The Vampire Diaries Season 6' was ended with a farewell scene of Elena Gilbert, sleeping into the coffin after Kai's curse.

Kai put a curse and the only way to let Elena live is to let her best friend Bonnie die. The new season without Nina Dobrev is going to be different as TVD will introduce new characters on the show, who will add more misery to Mystic Falls.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 will begin on October 8, Thursday, at The CW.
