Cobie Smulders Talks About MCU Phase 3! Will Maria Hill Return In 'Avengers: Infinity War'?

The upcoming Marvel sequel 'Captain America: Civil War' will feature several characters from 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' including Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). However, two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are surprisingly absent from the cast.

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) may be excused for his absence, since he is no longer a part of the Avengers. Unfortunately, there is no clear reason for Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) to not be a part of 'Captain America 3.'

Smulders recently spoke to The Daily Beast about her new film 'Unexpected' as well as Maria Hill's role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actress was asked what it was like being a part of MCU.

"It's very secretive," Smulders said. "They like to keep the surprises for the audience so they don't reveal a lot of information-even to the inner circle. But it is nice! It's very cool to be a part of the world, and a part of this ongoing story that's happening."

Cobie Smulders also compared working on a regular movie and being a part of a Marvel film.

"Normally, you walk into a movie, have a script, and then you're done with it, or at the most you'll do a sequel-maybe. But with the Marvel world, they're doing television, they have merchandise like crazy, and Lego video games," she said. "It's cool to be a part of all of it."

Is there any possibility of Maria Hill making a cameo in 'Captain America: Civil War' or 'Avengers: Infinity War?'

"That's really sweet that you asked me, but I can't talk about that," Smulders said. "I'll get in trouble!"

Cobie Smulders' 'Age of Ultron' costar Jeremy Renner has recently talked about MCU continually keeping and adding characters in the films.

"It's nice to be able to continue things and characters that you've kind of grown with. But it's always great to have new faces come in," he said.

Cobie Smulders' latest film 'Unexepected' was released on July 24.
