Katharine Mcphee, the R&B and pop singer, found her fame in American Idol in 2006. Almost a decade after, she buys herself a $ 1.4 million property while waiting for her divorce to finalize. As of now, she remains married to Nick Cokas until the court finally decrees it otherwise.
The new property is in the posh community of Toluca Lake in Los Angeles. It covers 2,039 sq ft. has three bedrooms, two baths, a private pool and spa. Aside from this new digs, she also owns a condo in Sherman Oaks, Daily Mail reports.
Mcphee has been married to Cokas for 6 years, and separated for a year, since May 2014, before they finally started divorce proceedings. When they married, she was 23 and he was 42. He was her boyfriend during the American Idol, and was one of those who convinced her to join the search.
Mcphee has produced numerous albums, appeared in Broadway and has starred in movies and TV. She has many singing awards, one of which is the Exciting New Vocalist (2007) for Young Hollywood Awards. More recently, she won an acting award - Best Actress in Drama Series for Smash (Women's Image Network Awards). Last year, Forbes listed her as one of the top-earning American Idol alum, earning $ 1million from all her stints for a year.
She now stars in Scorpion, a CBS TV series based on the life of a real Walter O'Brien, a genius. In the series, O'Brien is requested by Homeland Security to create a think tank composed of intelligent misfits. Elyes Gabel plays the role of genius, and one of his recruits, Paige Dineen, is played by Mcphee.
Incidentally, they don't just work together, they have also been dating since September last year. Gabel also appears in the Game of Thrones.
