In case you skipped the movie theater over this past weekend, Amy Schumer's hilarious first top-billed movie has been getting some mad box office and critical support, but there's one Oscar-winning actress who looks completely unrecognizable in her new role in the film - Tilda Swinton's "Trainwreck" role makes her look just like the title of the movie would suggest!
While Swinton, an Oscar winner with an incredibly impressive acting rage, is well known for massive changes in appearance for a few of her roles (last year's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" comes to mind), Tilda Swinton's "Trainwreck" role is shocking for a completely different reason: the British actress, known for her impeccable fashion sense and consciously androgynous style, actually managed to look trashy.
According to Cinema Blend, many in the staff didn't recognize Tilda Swinton in "Trainwreck" because of her huge transformation, which is already being called "one of the best of the year," in a style that required lots - lots - of makeup.
Entertainment Weekly reports that, in order to achieve Tilda Swinton's "Trainwreck" look, there was a lot of prepping up, including an hour-long daily session with self-tanning cream (particularly considering how notoriously pale Swinton is in real life), then following up with "layers and layers" of bronzers as well as décolletage.

"She's over the top, over-tanned, and does everything in the biggest way," said the film's makeup artist, Kyra Pachenko, speaking about how Tilda Swinton's "Trainwreck" look was ultimately achieved. "She's [normally] translucent, and we turned her the color of a coconut shell."
As The Daily Mail reports, there was also a lot of eye makeup involved in Swinton's role, as well as a wig - the natural redheaded Londoner usually uses very short pixie cuts in almost white blonde.
For now, Swinton seems delighted to be unrecognizable, as she prepares for her first incursion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she'll play The Ancient One in "Doctor Strange," starring Benedict Cumberbatch - in the meantime, have fun with the Tilda Swinton's "Trainwreck" of a role in theaters!
