Watch this unbelievable video of a lioness that adopts a baby oryx antelope as if it was its own cub. Saba Douglas-Hamilton, a conservationist of the 'Save the Elephants' trust said: "I couldn't believe my ears when I first heard about the adoption. That was just absolutely non-sense. I thought, just give it a few hours and the lioness will eat the calf."
She immediately went to see with her own eyes what her ears couldn't believe. "All of a sudden there was this completely unheard of situation of a predator who had adopted its prey," she said.
Experts think that it might have happened because the lioness experienced a tragic loss which caused her to be on her own - a dangerous situation as other lion groups might attack and kill her if they saw her. She therefore took the baby antelope as if it was her own cub, protecting and not leaving it out of sight. This did not only last for a few hours, but for several days, until.... Watch it yourself.
