Almost twenty years ago, legendary (and nowadays, billionaire) basketball player Michael Jordan joined forces with the Looney Tunes to save the world from being taken over, and there's a strong rumor that the man who has taken his place in the court could be teaming up with Bugs Bunny as well, as rumors about LeBron James' "Space Jam 2" shower the Internet.
It has been recently announced that LeBron, currently playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has signed a deal with Warner Brothers to make films and television shows with his own company - so, could LeBron James' "Space Jam 2" be in the works?
The partnership was announced earlier this Wednesday through The Wall Street Journal, when Time Warner announced their entertainment company would have an alliance with the basketball star's company SpringHill Entertainment - a partnership that comes after months of rumors of a possible LeBron James "Space Jam 2" film.
Deadspin reports that rumors of LeBron James' "Space Jam 2" began circulating in February 2013, when it was said that the studio had already found a producer and a screenwriter for the movie, although at the time LeBron was quick to deny any involvement in the supposed project - but now that he's teaming up with the company who owns the rights to the 1996 film (plus all Looney Tunes characters), the movie seems like a real possibility.
According to Consequence of Sound, there's another reason for the LeBron James' "Space Jam 2" rumor to grow at this point, as just last month it was reported that Warner Bros. had filed new trademarks for "Space Jam," including everything tangentially involved in the film - so it seems like too much of a coincidence than just weeks later they're partnering up with the biggest star in basketball if there are no plans to revive the beloved film, which also co-starred Bill Murray.
There has been no confirmation from Warner about LeBron James' "Space Jam 2," but fans keep hoping!
