NBA Star Dwyane Wade Is Starting His Own Wine Label

It looks Dwyane Wade is adding the title of winemaker to his resume. The Miami Heat star recently unveiled his new line of wines simply titled 'Wade', while on a press tour in China.

The three time NBA champion hinted at his new venture a few hours earlier, posting an Instagram of a few wine bottles baring the Wade label. Sports Illustrated's Extra Mustard has some more details on Wade's new wine:

Wade hasn't disclosed the wine's varietal, and it's unclear if the wine is yet available for purchase. China produces the seventh-largest amount of wine of any country in the world, though, according to the International Organization of Vine and Wine. So Wade's Chinese fans could be well-suited consumers.

Wade has always had a bit of an entrepreneurial streak. The star guard once walked away from a lucrative sponsorship with Jordan brand in order to start his own line of footwear and apparel under Chinese sportswear giant Li-Ning.

Back in 2012 the Miami Herald wrote this about Wade's decision:

"The reason for Wade's move is simple enough. Wade's deal with Li-Ning could one day make him one of the richest athletes in the world. At least that's the vision. Wade has reportedly been given equity in the company and, of course, a multimillion, multiyear deal that will pad his pockets well into retirement."

Not all of Wade's ventures have been successful however. Eater notes that Wade had a less successful attempt at the food and beverage industry when tried to kick start his chain of D. Wade's sports grills in Florida. The move was a flop and Wade was quickly sued by two groups of investors for nearly $150 million when he walked away from the floundering business.

Here's hoping his new wine label is much more successful
