The Onion Releases Hilarious Donald Trump Op-Ed

Popular satirical news website The Onion has just released a hilarious spoof Op-Ed column written in the voice of current media obsession: Donald Trump. The billionaire real estate mogul and now Republican presidential hopeful has been a constant fixture in the news these days, sometimes for the wrong reasons.

A few weeks back, Trump made headlines when he launched an offensive, racially charged tirade against illegal immigrants. He then followed this blunder by boasting of his net worth, which he claims has exceeded $10 billion since he decided to run for office at the start of June. His latest act of brazen attention grabbing occurred yesterday, when he gave out the personal cell phone number of South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham during a supporters rally.

Well, as the saying goes: 'There's no such thing as bad publicity.' Trump's antics seem to have bolstered his bid at becoming securing the Republican nomination because he currently leads all challengers according to polling data gathered last week.

The Onion's piece touches on this:

The latest polls are out, and just as I predicted, I'm leading the Republican presidential race by a wide margin. You might be wondering how that could be. After all, it's hardly been a month since I entered the field and I've already alienated America's largest immigrant population, seen dozens of my high-profile business deals implode one after the other, and publicly insulted a national hero's military service, all while not offering a single viable policy idea.

The Onion is spot on when it identifies Trump's constant publicity as the cause for his rapid rise up the polls:

My campaign's just barely begun and I've already got you begging for more. Sure, you can say you oppose me or that you don't even take me seriously. But let me ask you: How many articles have you read about Ted Cruz lately? How many news segments have you watched on Bobby Jindal? Or Rand Paul?

What's next for the Trump circus? We'll have to wait and see.
