Fast & Furious 8: Why Vin Diesel Made James Wan Direct Paul Walker Last Movie?

The Conjuring visionary director James Wan made Paul Walker's last film of Fast & Furious 7 into a billion and a half dollar hit. However, there is no assurance yet for director Wan to come back and direct the Fast & Furious 8.

Rumors for Fast & Furious 8, that Universal Studios is still in talks with several new directors, but executive producer Vin Diesel seems to lean on Justin Lin. Lin is the  Fast & Furious franchise veteran director who directed the last three films in the series.

Director Justin Lin stepped down with horror filmmaker James Wan for Fast & Furious  to prove the action film skills of director Wan. In spite of that, director James Wan has said that Lin would be the right man for the job. James Wan stated, "I think it's a great idea for Justin (Lin) to come back," Wan also said, "Justin had such a big part to do with where this series has gone. It would be amazing if he closed it out."

Neal H. Moritz an American film producer, and has been with the Fast & Furious franchise from the start, said that they haven't selected any director for the upcoming Fast 8 because it's just too early in the process and decide on what kind of movie the production are going to make next.

The best recorded performance of director Justin Lin in filmmaking were four "Furious" installments, including 2006's "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift", 2009's "Fast & Furious", 2011's "Fast Five", and 2013's "Fast & Furious 6". And aside from that Lin helmed these movies. The director has directed episodes in TV shows like the former NBC sitcom "Community", CBS drama series "Scorpion", and HBO crime flick "True Detective".

Neal Moritz stated, "What we decided is that we are going to be a little further down the development process on the screenplay before we bring in a director." Neal Moritz also said, "We have talked to a lot of directors, but we just haven't made that decision because we're trying to still wrap our heads, 100%, about what the next Fast & Furious is." "Once we do that, then we'll bring in the director."
