Could Taylor Swift be John Green's next leading lady? At a press event for the film adaptation of his bestselling novel 'Paper Towns', the author spoke of his admiration for the pop superstar. He told Access Hollywood:
"It's not my decision who to cast. I do like Taylor Swift a lot, I'm a big Taylor swift fan."
Swift has also went public with her love Green's writing. Last year created a short post on her personal tumblr account where she labelled him her favourite author.
Green thinks Swift would be perfect for a role in "Looking for Alaska", another of his smash hit young adult books:
"She'd be a great Takumi. She'd be great as The Colonel," he said. "It could be one of those movies where Taylor Swift plays every character, just in a different outfit... like 'Austin Powers.''' Starring Taylor Swift, AND Taylor Swift."
Back in February, Entertainment Weekly reported that Paramount was pushing through with a big screen adaptation of 'Looking For Alaska', Green's debut novel. Writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are penning the screenplay. The pair were also responsible for adapting Paper Towns and Green's other book to film success 'The Fault In Our Stars,' which featured Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. No release date for Looking for Alaska has been set yet.
For now though, all eyes are going to be on Paper Towns which his theatres this Friday. The film will feature supermodel Cara Delevigne as Margo Roth Spiegelman and Nat Wolff (who also had a role in 'The Fault in Our Stars) as Quentin Jacobsen.
What do you think of Green's suggestion? Should Taylor Swift follow in the footsteps of Shailene Woodley and Cara Delevigne? Or is this an idea that's best left to the imagination?
